Selection Process

The selection process is four tired. First round is eligibility check, second round is blind peer review process followed by two rounds of presentation/interview.

First round is eligibility check of the applicant by the chosen BIG Partner. Second round is the blind peer review process where the eligible proposals are reviewed by three subject experts related to the proposed area of work (blind peer review process). If two out of three reviewers recommend a proposal, then the PI (Project investigator/leader) is asked to give a short presentation/interview in front of the Technical Evaluation Panel (TEP) at your chosen BIG Partner. The selected applicants by the TEP committee have to give a final presentation at BIRAC, New Delhi in front of the Expert Selection Committee (ESC). The selected applicants by the ESC are finally awarded the BIG Grant. Please note that the BIRAC is solely responsible for the selection/rejection of any application.
